Why it’s important to support UUCAS financially by Andy Fagan
The past year has been a challenging one for us all, including me. The pandemic has forced me to evaluate my overall health and well-being more than ever. This includes my physical, mental, and spiritual health. What is important? What do I need to be healthy and happy? What should I do to be the best I can be? For my physical health, I invest my time and resources in eating better and exercising. For my mental health, I invest my time and resources in my relationships
with my husband, my friends and my family, and I play and listen to music, and walk in nature. These activities also support my spiritual health, but I have found that there is something more that is needed. Being part of a community of caring individuals who are committed to seeking the truth and to principles that focus on higher ideals such as peace, harmony, and justice, is important to me and supports my well-being, especially in a community and world that often falls short of these ideals. Being part of this community, helps not only me, but provides a place
for others who are also seeking the truth and who share these same ideals. As I get older, I have learned that I need to balance work and life better, including investing my time and resources into those things that support my overall health and well-being. I recognize that this includes supporting this faith community financially, so that it continues to not only help me, but remain as a beacon of hope for all.

April is Pledge Month!
Even during a pandemic, all our congregations rely on the financial contributions of our members and friends to keep us going – paying our staff, maintaining our buildings, providing Sunday services and meaningful activities for our children, to name a few things. Our board has started drafting a budget for the next program year, which begins July 1 and runs through June 30. It is a stretch budget, as we want it to allow us to live our values – expanding our social justice efforts, prioritizing our children’s RE program and more. You’ll be hearing more about the budget in the next month or so. And on each Sunday in April you’ll be hearing from a member of one of the congregations, letting you know why he or she contributes financially to their congregation. And then on the 25 th we’ll have an Open Mic/Show and Tell virtual event, where you can showcase your talents or just show us something you’re interested in and enjoy doing. Look for more details in the newsletter. You’ll be receiving a letter and pledge form from me and the board very soon, if you haven’t already. Please consider carefully what you can pledge for the upcoming year to help us all live our faith by making a generous pledge for next year. And thank you!
